Arsenal went into international break as Premier League leader 2022-23

As you know, London’s Arsenal in the last round of the Premier League with a big score beat Brentford (3:0) in the away match of the eighth round.

The goals were scored by William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira. Arsenal scored 18 points and took first place in the standings, one point ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Major changes at Arsenal

Arsenal had a fiasco against Brandford, as was known last season in the league.

A big change from August 2021, when Arsenal looked weak and pulled apart in this stadium, losing 2-0 and starting a three-game losing streak that made Mikel Arteta doubt he was fit to be London club coach.

After that game, Brentford striker Ivan Tawney wrote on social media: “Kicking ball with the guys was great,” and Arteta showed this message to his players as motivation.

A match like this was needed for Arsenal to say they were determined to keep a winning course all season long.

It was also complemented by a wonderful goal scored by their £34m signing newcomer Fabio Vieira on his full Premier League debut when he replaced an injured Martin Odegaard and showed his strength.

There were also chants for Granit Xhaka, who was captain in Odegaard’s absence and was outstanding in this match.

It also seemed symbolic given that last February against Brentford at the Emirates, the midfielder, who had been stripped of the captaincy by Arteta’s predecessor, refused to take on the captaincy.

Mikel Arteta gives youngsters a chance

As you know, in the afternoon match with Brentford, a record was set – the youngest player in the Premier League played for Arsenal.

Nvaneri managed to make a tackle and, not hurrying to leave at the end of the match, deservedly savored the moment. The supporters loyal to Arsenal have been generous in their appreciation of the youngster and have just as passionately cheered for their team’s return to the top.

When the Premier League returns two weekends from now, it will be a North London derby between the two sides in exceptional form.

It may be too early to draw final conclusions, but Arteta seems to have built a team that can at least challenge the top four.

The club were vastly outnumbered by the Brentford team, who had no chances until late in the match, Mikkel Damsgaard tested Aaron Ramsdale.

Viyer’s successful debut

Fabio Viyera made a great debut in the Premier League and scored a goal.

Football players and fans are quite superstitious. So the sight of a player named Vieira scoring for Arsenal in a match that sends them back to the top of the Premier League table will go a long way.

Another sign that Arsenal have the courage to fight and of course the strength to finish in the top four and return to the Champions League, qualities that used to be taken for granted under Arsene Wenger .

Arsenal came into the international break with confidence and it was an impressive result.

Fabio Viyera

Arsenal, which established a solid 2-0 lead at half-time, was impressive. Fabio Vieira, in his first start in the Premier League, cleared all questions about the outcome of the fight just three minutes into the second half.

Bukayo Saka pulled the ball and passed it to him, and the young Portuguese midfielder, who signed from Porto this summer, delivered a shot that left the goalkeeper with a chance.

Arsenal will remain at the top until October

Even temporary leadership will be very positive for the team and will give the team confidence in their abilities.

The loss to Manchester United on the last matchday was their first loss of the season, but against Brentford they gave a strong response.

With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United not playing this weekend, Arsenal had a chance to further widen the gap between themselves and their top four rivals.

It’s still the beginning of the season – and these teams obviously have a game in hand – but being eight points ahead of Chelsea and nine points ahead of Liverpool will do a lot to reassure a team often accused of instability.

The team felt comfortable enough to release Ethan Nwaneri, who, at 15 years and 181 days old, became Arsenal and the Premier League’s youngest ever player.

In fact, he can’t even change in the same dressing room as the rest of his teammates because he’s still underage.

The international break means Arsenal will be first next month, but on the first day of the game, Arsenal will play third-placed Tottenham in London.
