Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile has officially joined Chelsea. The London club announced this on its social media page.

The 21-year-old Frenchman cost the team €38 million. Negotiations lasted almost the entire second half of December, and in the first days of January, the player successfully passed a medical examination before signing a contract with the club.

For Chelsea, this is the first major signing in the January transfer window. Badiashile signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, spending the first four years of his career at Monaco, where the player made 106 Ligue 1 appearances.

“I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea. I’m so excited to start playing for this club. I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world.”

The arrival of Badiashile gives the English team more options in the defender position. As you know, the absence of Rhys James after a new injury is very hard on the game.

Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League table. The team has 25 points and 20 goals scored.
