Preview
The Croatian national team in its group was considered one of the main contenders for the playoffs, eventually justifying this status.
Despite the unstable game in the first round against Morocco (0-0), the team defeated Canada (4-1) in the second round, which practically guaranteed a place in the playoffs.
However, in the duel with Belgium at least three times they could have lost the chance to reach the playoffs, but kept a draw (0-0).
In the 1/8 finals, Croatia met with Japan, in the confrontation with which it was considered a clear favorite. However, the team missed first and lost to the Japanese in the first half.
In the second half, they managed to level the score, but after that the Croats were again too cautious, bringing the matter to a penalty shootout, where Japan turned out to be weaker.

The Brazilian national team was considered the clear favorite of their group, and of the tournament as a whole. In the company of Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon, the team clearly stood out and immediately proved it by beating Serbia (2-0).
Less exciting was the match with Switzerland, where the victory was snatched out, but only at the end of the meeting (1-0). The (0-1) defeat against Cameroon in the third round had no effect on the result.
The first line of the group stage provided Brazil with rivals South Korea. In this match, Brazil was merciless and showed football of very high quality, having already scored four goals against the opponent by the break.
In the second half, the team slowed down and conceded, but the victory (4-1) provided the team with a ticket to the quarterfinals.
Players to watch
Ivan Perisic equaled Davor Šuker as Croatia’s top scorer in the World Cup with six goals and will be itching to break that record here.

Neymar, is two goals away from surpassing Pele as his nation’s all-time leading goalscorer. He scored a brace in a 4-1 victory over Croatia in the 2014 World Cup.
Head to Head
This will be the fifth meeting between the two teams. Brazil has three wins and one match ended in a draw.
Croatia have lost just one of their last 20 international matches, winning 13 and drawing six.
Prediction
Croatia win 9.50 | Draw 5.00 | Brazil win 1.38 |
The Brazilian national football team is definitely the best in the tournament in terms of the quality of football, the Brazilians justify the status of the main favorite more than confidently.
The rivals are the Croatian national team, which with great difficulty got out of the group, and then made its way to the quarterfinals in no less difficult way.
Given the selection of players, the quality of football, the results of personal meetings, it is unlikely that the Croats have a chance to avoid defeat.
Prediction for this match: Brazil win with a handicap (-2).
